NEVILLE FOULGER: In a sense, Coventry were fortunate they were going to play on the same ground as in the quarter-final and then being housed in the Kop end. The semi-final was fantastic. I can always remember the sight of the Sky Blue scarves, a sea of Sky Blue and white. It was a nail-biter and it was almost because of the 3-2 scoreline that I predicted they would win the final by the same score.
A lot of the on-field events left you gasping. It was a memorable game but, again, lady luck, in a way, went Coventryâs way for the first time. Little moments in the game, like Bennett dispossessing Ormsby, to come through it 3-2 was sensational. For me there was no real particular moment that stands out. It was just the whole thing. All the way through you wouldnât have wanted to predict a winner, you just had this feeling, âThis has to be our year.â Everything was falling into place and the feeling at the final whistle was just unbelievable. It was that moment the realisation dawned for the first time in 104 years that we were going to Wembley. Iâve been to the stadium many times to cover England matches and cup finals so going there wasnât that big for me but it was massive to be able to report on Coventry City playing there. The scenes on the pitch afterwards, with John Sillett, George Curtis and the fans were just sensational.
STEVE SEDGLEY: I was on the bench again but never got on. As the final whistle blew I hugged John Sillett and all the lads were giving me stick later on, they said I was only hugging him so I would get a spot in the team at Wembley! I was itching to get on. It was a nerve-wracking game, but because it was so tight I donât think John wanted to change things after heâd sent on Micky Gynn in place of Nick when he got injured. I can understand that, putting an 18-year-old kid on in such circumstances, it could have backfired on him, and we got the right result.
JOHN SILLETT: Winning the semi-final was possibly the greatest moment â getting to Wembley. It was everybodyâs dream in football. I thought, âAt least weâve achieved something never done before in the history of the club.â It was a superb atmosphere and we played some beautiful football. I was a believer in football, my biggest change at Coventry was changing the style of football. I always thought we used Cyrille the wrong way, his lungs werenât the greatest to have to chase all the long balls into the channels but on sprints he was fantastic, ten to 12 yards, tremendous pace and power. We had to play down the sides of the centre-halves to Cyrille and he would get on the end of it. I had a meeting with the boys when I first took over and said, âHow do you want to
